A marriage announcement

Having met at Fir Trees Independent Hospital 8 months ago, Mr Kenneth Bond and Miss Katie Smith Whittle embarked on a romantic relationship and having decided to plan their future together were married at Leigh Register Office on 4th August 2008. The ceremony was followed with a buffet reception for family, friends and staff.
Both Ken and Katie have spent a long time within mental health services over the years and have both come a long way in achieving independence. Ken was supported in finding a job and now works on a permanent basis at Tesco in Wigan, a job which he loves and performs well. Katie has also developed her skills and both are aiming towards living in independent accommodation in the near future.
Ken and Katie have supported each other throughout their time at Fir Trees and as they embark on their married life, we all wish them a long and happy future together.
This marriage is a first for Alternative Futures Group, as they are the first residents to have become partners and then go on to become man and wife.
