New partnerships with Unions introduced
16 October 2008
Alternative Futures Group and the public service union UNISON have, for the first time, entered into a formal partnership agreement.
The agreement which has been negotiated commits both parties to an "honest and open relationship founded on respect, mutual trust and a shared desire for Alternative Futures Group to be a successful organisation delivering care and support to its service users".
The growth of Alternative Futures Group has resulted in an increase in UNISON membership especially in situations where groups of staff have transferred their employment from the public service sector. The important role played by Unison in supporting these transfers in terms of representing the interests of these members as well as other members employed within the organisation has now been formally recognised in a comprehensive recognition agreement.
Tim Ellis, Regional Officer of UNISON said of the Agreement: "UNISON welcomes the opportunity to work in partnership with AFG in the best interests of both members and service users .We look forward to continuing our progressive and constructive relationship with AFG."
Unison members will be represented formally through the provision of two seats on the Employee Partnership Forum and it is anticipated that a third seat will be taken by a union representative from the Royal College of Nursing once similar arrangements have been formalised via an agreement with the RCN.
Neil Campbell, Chief Executive of Alternative Futures Group commented "This is yet another new and positive development in the organisation’s story. We are wholly committed to working closely with our employee representatives and trades union partners to engage our staff and continue to make Alternative Futures Group a success and deliver our vision for service users".
